Measure your dog nose to base of tail lying stretched out, then add 15-20cm. If they curl tightly you can size down slightly; if they sprawl on their side, size up. Breed charts are in the size guide.
For a dog with stiff joints, yes - the point is pressure distribution, so elbows and hips are not resting on a hard floor through a thin pad. Look for 10cm or more of high-density foam, not a foam-topped fibre bed.
Start with the chew-resistant range: ripstop or ballistic weave, hidden zips and double-stitched seams. No bed is indestructible - if chewing is anxiety-driven, a calming bed plus a covered crate usually works better than a tougher bed.
Covers yes, inners usually no. Foam inners should be spot-cleaned and air-dried. Fibre-filled small beds are often fully washable - the product page states which.
Usually a few days. Put it where their old bed was, add a blanket that smells of home, and do not wash the cover for the first week. If they are still avoiding it after two weeks, send it back.
